Federation is the central address of the organized Jewish community in Richmond. We bring community together to create collaborative partnerships in planning and meeting essential human service demands
required by a myriad of constituencies. We meet those identified needs by raising sufficient funds to sustain and enrich Jewish life and Jewish lives everyday here at home, throughout the Diaspora and in Israel.
Federation works to reach out and engage people to become active participants in communal life and to teach them the importance of tzedakah and philanthropy. Federation works to ensure personal freedoms endure by creating quality relationships with interfaith partners and public officials within the general community.

    Sample Bequest & Planned Giving Language

    NOTE:  The sample language below does not represent any legal opinion or advice offered by The Jewish Community Federation of Richmond.  Please consult with your professional advisors to ensure appropriate documentation is selected that best suits your personal and financial needs.  Thank you for considering making a bequest to the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond and / or its annual UJA Jewish Welfare Fund Campaign.

    EXAMPLES OF GENERAL BEQUEST  LANGUAGE

    It is easy to make a charitable bequest through a provision in one’s will or trust. There are several designations one can make to benefit the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond, its affiliates, agencies or beneficiaries. You may leave a bequest of a specific cash amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate.

    To make an unrestricted gift
    I give $___________(or specified property, or ____% of the residue of my estate) to the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond, Virginia as an unrestricted gift.

    To establish a Perpetual Annual Campaign Endowment
    I give $__________ (or specified property or ____% of the residue of my estate) to the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond, Virginia, the income there-from to be distributed solely on an annual basis to the UJA Jewish Welfare Fund or its successor campaign.

    To establish a Lion of Judah Endowment*
    I give $___________(or specified property or ____% of the residue of my estate) to the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond, Virginia as a Lion of Judah Endowment gift, the income there-from to be distributed solely on an annual basis to the Women’s Division of the annual UJA Jewish Welfare Fund Campaign or its successor campaign.
    *(Gift must be at least $100,000)

    To establish an endowment to benefit a program or specified area of interest
    I give $___________(or specified property or ____% of the residue of my estate) to the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond, Virginia to be held for the benefit of ______________ (describe a special field of interest).

    Create a Jewish Legacy is funded by the Richmond Jewish Foundation and the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond. It is a United Jewish Communities pilot program.

    What is Create a Jewish Legacy?

     

    Create a Jewish Legacy is a community public awareness campaign conducted by your local Jewish community federation/foundation. The goal of Create a Jewish Legacy is to make the Jewish community aware of how simple and meaningful it can be to leave a charitable legacy. The program promotes the message that each of us can make a difference in the lives of future Jewish generations.

    Create a Jewish Legacy is a unique, results-oriented program in which the Jewish community federation/foundation is partnering with local Jewish agencies, day schools and synagogues to establish bequests and other estate gifts for your community. The federation/foundation is providing each participating organization with a focused course of study including group training sessions and coaching for individual agencies. In addition, a marketing effort has been launched to raise awareness of the importance of bequests and endowments in the overall Jewish community.
