PJ Library Purim Program

Join the PJ Library on Tuesday, February 23 at 4 PM at the Weinstein JCC for the event.
Once again the program will be hosted and planned by the Students of Shaarei Torah, the girls high school program at RTA. The program will include hamantashen baking, special Purim crafts, “storytime”, and more.

Upcoming Enterprise Circle Events

On Thursday, March 25 the Enterprise Circle will gather at the Temple Beth El Brown Religious School at 601 N. Parham Road at 7:30 AM. Our guest speakers will be Ronen Zohar, Chief Executive Officer& Meiky Tollman, Executive Vice President, General Manager of Sabra Dipping Company.

On Thursday, June 3 at 7:30 AM Enterprise Circle will once again welcome Jeff Lacker, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. Mr. Lacker previously spoke to the Enterprise Circle in May 2007. Mr. Lacker will speak at the new MeadWestvaco offices in Downtown Richmond.
Mr. Lacker took office as president on August 1, 2004 as the seventh chief executive of the Fifth District Federal Reserve Bank. Lacker's full term began in March 2006 and he began serving as a voting member of the Federal Open Market Committee in 2009.

Facing History and Ourselves

The 2010 Virginia Holocaust Museum’s Facing History and Ourselves, wrkshop will focus on the Holocaust and memory.
FEBRUARY 18-19, 2010

Generously Sponsored by: the Virginia Holocaust Museum, the Henry and Gertrude Kupfer Holocaust Education Fund, the Herbert J. and Ruth Rubel Holocaust Education Fund and the Richmond Jewish Federation.

Memories, stories of a life lived with a before and an after – the Civil Rights Movement, the destruction of the World Trade Center, the killing of 32 people on the Virginia Tech campus. Each of these public events changed our individual stories and changed the collective memory of the world in which we live. The diaries, art and music of Holocaust survivors, and the recorded memories of those who were killed in the Holocaust allow us to glimpse this period in history. Learning about the writings, art, and music created during, and in reflection of the Holocaust will enable history, English, art and music
teachers to help students connect their own worlds to this watershed event - - and teach the information and lessons that students must learn.

JDC: Brings Hope to Haiti

JDC the official humanitarian assistance organization for the Jewish community Brings Help and Hope to Haiti- $1.5 million raised in first week.

Since 1914, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) has given global expression to the principle that all Jews are responsible for one another.  Working today in over 70 countries, JDC acts on behalf of North America's Jewish communities and others to rescue Jews in danger, provide relief to those in distress, revitalize overseas Jewish communities and help Israel overcome the social challenges of its most vulnerable citizens. JDC also provides non-sectarian emergency relief and long-term development assistance worldwide.
In response to the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on Jan. 12, JDC is collecting funds to aid relief efforts for victims on a non-sectarian basis. JDC has moved swiftly to coordinate relief efforts with its network of Israeli, American, and other local partners on the ground. JDC is currently supporting Heart to Heart International to provide immediate medical aid, equipment, and services to victims of the earthquake. JDC is also working with the Medical Corps of the Israel Defense Forces, whose team of medical professionals has landed in Haiti and is setting up a field hospital to care for those affected by the quake.
